SBH21 Amorphous-Alloy Oil-Immersed Transformer
The SBH21 series is a grade 2 energy-efficiency product developed to GB 20052-2020, the Chinese standard for minimum allowable values of energy efficiency and efficiency grades of power transformers, and is the successor to the SBH15 series.
Product overview
Grade 2 efficiency amorphous-alloy oil-immersed transformer to GB 20052-2020: no-load loss as low as the SBH15, load loss around 15% lower.

- SBH21

- Oil-immersed power transformers
Overview
While retaining the electromagnetic properties of amorphous alloy, the series raises overall efficiency through structural optimisation and upgraded materials: it keeps the very low no-load loss of an amorphous core and improves consumption under load.
Technical performance
- With no-load loss unchanged from the SBH15, the SBH21 reduces load loss by about 15%, improving energy consumption under load.
- SBH21-630 kVA: no-load loss 320 W, load loss 5300 W — the same no-load loss as an SBH15 of equal rating, with load loss 900 W lower.
- Against an S20-630 kVA, the SBH21 has 190 W lower no-load loss and 340 W higher load loss.
Operating economics
- On an operating model of 75% average annual load factor, a single 630 kVA unit saves up to 5913 kWh a year against an SBH15.
- Against an S20, annual consumption is about 569.4 kWh higher, yet the long-term value remains significant.
- Ageing: an amorphous core resists ageing, so its low no-load loss stays essentially constant over the whole service life, whereas the no-load loss of a silicon-steel transformer rises with age as the material fatigues.
- Environmental benefit: amorphous alloy is made with low process energy and no fluoride emissions, in line with green-grid policy.
