20 kV and 35 kV SC(B)10 / SC(B)11 Dry-Type Transformer

The 20 kV and 35 kV SC(B)10 and SC(B)11 series are low-loss dry-type transformers built to Chinese national standards, used to step 35 kV or 20 kV grid supply directly down to a 400 V distribution supply or a 10 kV transmission supply.

Product overview

Overview

  • Less land use and fewer multi-stage substation works.
  • Lower project investment and better economic return.
  • One less 10 kV transformation stage, reducing operation and maintenance costs.
  • High-voltage low-current transmission instead of low-voltage high-current, reducing line losses and line operating costs.
  • 35 kV and 20 kV supply reaches the load centre directly, improving supply reliability.

Electrical and insulation performance

  • Insulation design: the coils are cast in epoxy resin under vacuum and cure into a rigid cylindrical body, improving withstand against atmospheric and switching overvoltages, further lowering partial discharge and keeping the insulation level stable throughout the service life.
  • Impulse and short-circuit withstand: HV and LV windings are made of oxygen-free copper and supported by high-toughness ceramic parts, giving low short-circuit resistance, high mechanical strength and a high short-circuit and lightning-impulse withstand level.
  • Overload capability: the insulation class is normally H (180℃) or F; without forced-air cooling the unit can carry a continuous overload of 120%.

Safety, environment and efficiency

  • Flame-retardant and non-toxic: self-extinguishing materials release no toxic or harmful gases in a fire or an arc and produce almost no smoke at high temperature, so the unit is fire- and explosion-safe.
  • Moisture and pollution resistance: the coils do not absorb moisture and run stably in harsh environments without any drying treatment.
  • Low loss and low noise: the core uses high-grade cold-rolled silicon steel in a stepped mitred configuration, lowering no-load loss, no-load current and operating noise.
  • Cooling and overload: the thin resin layer dissipates heat well and low-noise fans can be fitted for forced-air cooling.
