Overview

GCS withdrawable switchgear is designed for three-phase AC networks at 50 (60) Hz, a rated operating voltage of 380 (660) V and rated currents up to 4000 A. It serves incoming and feeder circuits, centralised motor control and reactive-power compensation, and is widely used in power plants and in the petroleum, chemical and textile industries as well as in high-rise building distribution systems.

Construction

The cubicle is arranged in separate functional compartments, and the main frame is available in two constructions to suit different projects.

  • The horizontal main busbar is laid flat at the rear of the cubicle to raise the rated peak withstand current of the busbar system.
  • Functional-unit compartment, busbar compartment and cable compartment are segregated from one another; each works independently without affecting the others.
  • The main frame is available fully bolted or partly welded (side panels and cross members) to suit different user requirements.
  • Each drawer has five clearly marked positions — closed, open, test, isolated and withdrawn; one cubicle takes up to 11 one-unit drawers or 22 half-unit drawers.
  • Drawers come in five sizes — 1/2, 1, 3/2, 2 and 3 units — and are fitted with a mechanical interlock and an emergency release.

Service conditions

  • Indoor installation at an altitude not exceeding 2000 m; ambient air temperature between -5 °C and 40 °C, with a 24-hour average not above 35 °C — derate the assembly when these values are exceeded.
  • Relative humidity not above 50% at 40 °C; higher values are allowed at lower temperatures, up to 90% at 20 °C. Condensation caused by temperature swings must be taken into account.
  • Install in a location free from severe vibration and shock and from media corrosive to the components; the tilt from the vertical must not exceed 5° and the cubicle line must be level (per GBJ232-82).
  • Special requirements can be agreed with the manufacturer at the order stage.
