Low No-Load Loss, Long Maintenance Intervals

Coreda supplies distribution areas, industrial parks and renewable plants with equipment for eight sectors: urban distribution networks, energy storage, power facilities, ports and shipbuilding, metallurgy, high-speed rail, wind power and solar PV.

Urban Distribution Networks

Urban Distribution Networks

Urban grids are built from large numbers of 10 kV substations that stay energised around the clock, so no-load loss accounts for a significant share of annual energy losses. Coreda combines amorphous-alloy transformers with prefabricated substations to place low-loss, low-noise equipment inside residential and commercial load centres.

Typical uses
  • Substations for housing estates and mixed-use complexes
  • Retrofit and capacity upgrades in older districts
  • Compact substations along streets and in industrial parks
Typical equipment
  • Amorphous-alloy transformers
  • Prefabricated substations
  • Ring-main supply
  • Indoor substation rooms
Energy Storage

Energy Storage

A storage plant cycles between charging, discharging and standby every day, and the transformer stays energised through standby, so its no-load loss is charged straight to auxiliary consumption. Coreda configures the step-up unit with fully sealed amorphous-alloy transformers, compact substations and withdrawable LV switchgear to keep auxiliary consumption and site work down.

Typical uses
  • Step-up units for battery storage plants
  • Commercial and industrial storage, peak shaving in parks
  • Sites combining storage with solar PV or wind
Typical equipment
  • Amorphous-alloy transformers
  • Pad-mounted substations
  • Withdrawable LV switchgear
  • Containerised step-up units
Power Facilities

Power Facilities

Auxiliary supplies in power plants and substations, and public distribution rooms, carry many circuits and offer short maintenance windows, so a single fault can affect a whole row of cubicles. Coreda pairs wound-core oil-immersed transformers with GGD fixed and MNS withdrawable assemblies to keep a fault inside one compartment.

Typical uses
  • Plant and substation auxiliary supplies
  • Public distribution rooms and switching stations
  • LV side of main step-down substations in industry
Typical equipment
  • Wound-core transformers
  • LV assemblies
  • PC and MCC distribution
  • Station auxiliary supply
Ports and Shipbuilding

Ports and Shipbuilding

Quayside cranes and shipyard welding plant start and stop constantly, producing repeated inrush currents and short-time overloads, while a coastal site adds salt fog, humidity and dust. Coreda uses non-encapsulated class H and epoxy cast-resin dry-type transformers with GCK withdrawable LV switchgear to meet both the electrical and the environmental demands.

Typical uses
  • Supply to quayside handling equipment
  • Distribution in dry docks and outfitting shops
  • Port warehouses, yards and ancillary facilities
Typical equipment
  • Class H non-encapsulated transformers
  • Epoxy cast-resin dry-type
  • Withdrawable LV switchgear
  • Salt-fog protection
Metallurgy

Metallurgy

Metallurgical lines run continuously for most of the year, impact loads and large motor starts cause noticeable current variation, and the shop floor is hot and dusty. Coreda brings medium voltage straight to the load centre with 20 kV and 35 kV dry-type transformers, then distributes at shop level with low-loss oil-immersed units and GCS withdrawable switchgear.

Typical uses
  • Shop substations on rolling and casting lines
  • Motor control centres for fans, pumps and auxiliaries
  • Direct MV supply that removes a transformation stage
Typical equipment
  • 20 kV / 35 kV dry-type transformers
  • Low-loss oil-immersed transformers
  • Withdrawable LV switchgear
  • Motor control centres
High-Speed Rail

High-Speed Rail

Substations serving station buildings and lineside facilities usually sit on basement levels or in enclosed plant areas, where fire protection, noise and access for maintenance are all constrained. Coreda organises station supply around amorphous-alloy dry-type transformers and modular MNS withdrawable LV switchgear, for flame retardance, efficiency and work inside the night window.

Typical uses
  • Station buildings and basement plant levels
  • Depots and maintenance sheds
  • Tunnels and lineside ancillary facilities
Typical equipment
  • Amorphous-alloy dry-type transformers
  • Class H flame-retardant insulation
  • Modular LV switchgear
  • Basement substations
Wind Power

Wind Power

Wind turbines stay connected to the grid through low-wind and standstill periods, leaving the step-up transformer at no load or light load for long stretches, and the equipment is spread across an unattended site. Coreda delivers the step-up unit as a complete box-type substation, with amorphous-alloy or low-loss silicon-steel transformers inside to limit site losses and inspection work.

Typical uses
  • Step-up units at the base of the turbine tower
  • Collection circuits and site collection points
  • Outdoor positions on coastal, mountain and desert sites
Typical equipment
  • Box-type substations
  • Amorphous-alloy oil-immersed transformers
  • 35 kV collection
  • Salt-fog and dust protection
Solar PV

Solar PV

A PV plant's output follows the sun — zero at night, while the step-up transformer stays energised — so no-load loss takes a visible share of site losses. Coreda offers step-up configurations for both ground-mounted and distributed projects, combining amorphous-alloy transformers with prefabricated substations to cut site losses and the footprint of the connection point.

Typical uses
  • Step-up units for ground-mounted arrays
  • Rooftop and industrial-park connection points
  • Step-up stage of combined PV and storage sites
Typical equipment
  • Box-type substations
  • Compact pad-mounted substations
  • Amorphous-alloy oil-immersed transformers
  • Distributed connection
